The Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Prof Olugbemisola Odusote, has given her approval to the Prada Uzodimma Law School Scholarship Grant (PUSG), highlighting its ongoing efforts to enhance access to legal education for financially challenged Nigerian law graduates.

This endorsement came after a courtesy visit from the Founder of PUSG, Dr. Prada O. Uzodimma, Esq., who met with the Director-General to congratulate her on her recent appointment and to inform her about the scholarship’s goals, governance structure, and history of impact.

During their discussion, Odusote praised the initiative’s consistency and transparency, expressing her support for its continued growth.

PUSG is carried out in collaboration with Principle Legal Consult as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts, focusing on ensuring that qualified candidates admitted to the Nigerian Law School are not hindered by financial constraints.

The endorsement builds on previous institutional support PUSG received from the former Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Isa Chiroma, and from the former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

The consistent support from successive leadership highlights the initiative’s credibility within Nigeria’s legal education sector.

Since its inception, the scholarship program has steadily expanded in scope and reach.

The number of beneficiaries has increased each year as follows:

• 2021: 5 beneficiaries

• 2022: 10 beneficiaries

• 2023: 15 beneficiaries

• 2024: 21 beneficiaries

Besides tuition support, PUSG provides structured professional development through its PUSG Fireside Chat Series, offering beneficiaries mentorship and career guidance from senior legal professionals.

Beneficiaries also receive support through internship placements and post–Law School employment opportunities facilitated by the program’s professional network.

Commenting on the endorsement, Uzodimma stated, “The endorsement by the current Director-General of the Nigerian Law School confirms the governance standards, accountability framework, and long-term sustainability of PUSG. Our focus goes beyond financial support to the deliberate development of competent, ethical, and socially responsible legal practitioners.”

Odusote praised the initiative’s continuity and impact, emphasizing the importance of structured private-sector interventions in promoting merit-based access to legal education.

Preparations are underway for the next selection cycle, with organizers confirming that #PUSG2025 beneficiaries will be announced soon.

The Prada Uzodimma Law School Scholarship Grant continues to establish itself as a sustained effort aimed at enhancing equity and access within Nigeria’s legal profession through institutional collaboration and private-sector leadership.
